Random Thoughts 11/25/09

Here are a few things that have crossed my mind over the past few days...

I think the idea of naming states "New" versions of old places is a cop out.  New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and New Mexico should all be renamed.

I went to L.L. Bean on Friday, and wound up looking for an umbrella as I had been caught in the rain that morning.  They didn't have any on display, but did have one behind the counter, which all but clinched the fact that I would purchase it, regardless of the price.  It was $29.95 - quite steep for an umbrella.  Don't worry though, it's a Ghust buster.  Anyways, the umbrella had a sleeve over it to protect the umbrella.  But protect it from what?  It's an umbrella it's going to be protecting me from water and snow, and the protective sleeve would seemingly only function to protect the umbrella from water and snow.  I'm tempted to go back to L.L. Bean, return the sleeve and ask for it's equivalent value as a refund.
